The Settings panel is where you control how Whatsy behaves at a system level — who it replies to, how quickly it responds, and how it connects to WhatsApp. Open it by clicking Settings in the left sidebar. Changes take effect after you click Save Changes in the top-right corner of the panel.

Auto-reply toggle

The auto-reply toggle is the master on/off switch for the entire agent. When it is off, Whatsy continues running and stays connected to WhatsApp, but it will not send any replies to anyone. Use this to pause the agent instantly without disconnecting your account. You control auto-reply from the Dashboard using the Running / Paused toggle in the main overview panel — not from the Settings panel itself. The Settings panel controls the rules that govern how the agent replies when it is running.
Turning on auto-reply means Whatsy will begin sending real replies to your actual WhatsApp contacts using your active persona. Before enabling it, make sure you have set up a persona and reviewed its example pairs — test messages sent while the agent is live will receive real automated responses.

Response delay

Whatsy does not reply to messages instantly. Instead, it picks a random wait time between your MIN and MAX delay values before sending each reply. This makes responses feel more natural and avoids the uncanny effect of an immediate reply. The default range is 30 to 180 seconds (30 seconds minimum, 3 minutes maximum). You can adjust both values in the Response Delay row of the Auto-Reply Logic section. Enter whole numbers in the MIN and MAX fields. The agent will always wait at least the minimum number of seconds, and never longer than the maximum. For example, with the defaults set to 30–180, a reply might be sent 47 seconds after a message arrives, or 2 minutes and 12 seconds later — always within the window, never instantly.

Unknown contacts only

When Unknown Contacts Only is enabled, Whatsy only auto-replies to phone numbers that are not saved in your macOS address book. Messages from people already in your contacts are ignored by the agent entirely. This is useful if you want to automate responses to inbound inquiries or cold messages while keeping all conversations with people you know completely manual and unaffected by the agent.

Spam filtering

When Spam Filtering is enabled, Whatsy automatically detects messages that appear to be marketing, solicitation, or promotional content and archives them without replying. Spam-filtered messages appear in the activity log with a SPAM badge so you can review them if needed. Enabling spam filtering is recommended if you receive a high volume of unsolicited messages and do not want the agent to engage with them.

WhatsApp connection

The WhatsApp Connection section shows the current link status between Whatsy and your phone:
  • When connected, it displays your linked phone number and the date and time the session was established.
  • When disconnected, it shows a Reconnect Device button that restarts the agent and generates a new QR code.
To end the session, click Disconnect Device. This immediately stops all agent activity and unlinks Whatsy from your WhatsApp account. Your personas, behavior rules, and logs are not affected. To reconnect, click Reconnect Device and scan the new QR code — the same process as the initial setup.
